I think this is the best Chinese food in Tucson. Very clean, great attentive and friendly service, and wonderful fresh, clean food. The quality shows here versus other Chinese places. Pork fried rice is awesome, and I don't usually like fried rice at all. Crab puffs are unique and great. Hot and sour soup and egg rolls are good too. I didn't care for their orange chicken sauce because it was very sweet and not tangy enough, but I'm sure a lot of people would like their version of orange sauce. Sesame chicken, chicken and snow peas, beef and Broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, all great.

My friends really liked this place so I finally ordered some take out yesterday. I was surprised by how really good the food tasted. Great price for an ample portion. Good fast service for take out. Will try sit down next time.

ordered egg rolls to go and I'm sad to say they were pretty bad. They taste like old grease however, I will say that the last time we actually ate in the restaurant (sometime mid 2014) it was very good. And as I recall the service was good. I do not recommend egg rolls to go however.

Extremely fast service, food was excellent, and they can clearly speak and understand English which is very helpful. The restaurant is extremely clean as well

I wasn't a huge fan of GMG. The food was fresh and the restaurant was clean when I went to pick up takeout, but overall there were leftovers in the fridge for almost a week. This is purely a type of Chinese food preference, however. I grew up on the East Coast and the style of East Coast Chinese food is vastly different than what they offer in California and Arizona. The takeout process was very quick and the lady taking my order (in person) was helpful, kind and friendly. Price point was on the medium high side for Chinese food, but I will say that the produce and meats were fresh that were used. While I was waiting for my takeout order, I noticed that the restaurant itself was clean and they seemed to have a good system going for teamwork in terms of service and efficiency. I ordered a couple of the dinners that come with soup and a choice of eggroll or crab puff, as well as the eggplant dish I've been wanting to try. General consensus from both my husband and myself was that the general tsao's chicken was good, though the sauce a little sweeter than I typically find. The lo mein noodles were the huge noodles which I do not prefer - recently a friend told me that they switch the noodles from the skinny ones on the east coast to the thicker ones out here. The flavor was okay - could have used a little more garlic. The fried rice was meh - I make better at home. The eggplant dish was okay - it was just a little more one note in terms of flavor than I was hoping for. I will say that this is probably one of the better Chinese food places I've found in AZ in terms of cleanliness and customer service. I just won't be back as it is not my preferred style of Chinese food.

This seems to be the best Chinese option in the Oro Valley area. My wife and I recently went there on a trip to see my grandparents. The food is very affordable and plentiful. I think we ate about half the food we ordered, so beware when ordering. I recommend the Dragon and Phoenix, which has their special sauce. Other great options are any of the items off the family menu, which serves two people at least. Your meal includes wonton soup, an egg roll, crab puffs, and BBQ Pork Fried Rice. Also another important fact is that no MSG is used so you should have a headache free evening after! I recommend the cashew chicken or the curry chicken. The shrimp and snow peas weren't my favorite, because the sauce isn't as exciting or flavorful. GMG is a great family option to share and try multiple dishes that won't hit the pocketbook too hard.

Great food and entertainment. The Chinese food is amazing. Much better than others nearby in Oro Valley Marketplace. Ask them if they have wifi. They'll say Ed the kitchen can make anything you like! Lmao! Great food!!!

We have eaten here (dine-in) 3 times. All 3 times the food has been outstanding. The service quick and they are very helpful and inviting. I have tried to have something different each time. I have never been disappointed. So far I think the orange chicken is the biggest winner. They have several different types of hot tea. They do have call in and takeout available and we have also done that. The prices are very good. Full bar is available.

We went to GMG on a Friday at 5:30pm, it was already pretty packed. So if you have a larger party than 2 and coming later than 5:30, you might want to utilize there reservation or call ahead seating. We were greeted and sat right away, and our waitress was right there asking for our drink order and if we wanted any time to review the menu or if we knew what appetizer we wanted. We were given a pickled salad (I hate pickled anything so neither of us touched that) and some fried won ton chips with some hot sweet and sour sauce, which was pretty good, and some spicy mustard. I love spicy mustard - this spicy mustard was not that good, I haven't found a better tasting spicy mustard than Linh-Nam's - this guys homemade spicy mustard is the best and when you compare it to this place, its just... well crap. We started with the combination appetizer, this came with 2 Egg Rolls, 4 Crab Puffs, 2 Fried Shrimps, and 2 BBQ Ribs. Egg rolls were extremely bland, crab puffs were amazing(!!!), friend shrimps were about normal, and I personally did not like the BBQ ribs, they were too sweet to me, my husband loved them, so for the ribs - some will like it some will not. If I had Linh-Nam's spicy mustard those egg rolls would have been a little better, but you can't fix something that has no flavor. We felt this was a little over priced for the quality. By this point the restaurant was beginning to fill up becoming super packed, even with the huge amount of people, we were still able to hear each other very well, so the acoustics are set up very well there. For Dinner I had the Mongolian Shrimp and my husband had the Kung Pao Chicken, both are supposed to be spicy meals. The Kung Pao came out first with a small side of rice, this was not very spicy, still good, if you like kung pao which comes with peanuts. If you don't want peanuts don't get this meal, and if you're looking for something spicy, this isn't up there is spicy-ness either. However, even the kung pao at Pei wei isn't even that spicy either. The Mongolian Shrimp was a little more spicy, you felt the bite of this guy. This was the best tasting dish we got!! It was cooked extremely well, lots of flavors and goodness in it!! We packed more than half our meals to go because the portions were huge! We could have just gotten away with just the meals - no appetizers. The woman packed our meals for us at the table, which was nice, and they gave us a couple fortune cookies. The next day when we had these left overs for lunch, the containers they came in are microwaveable and help seal in the heat to cook faster, so that was cool, especially for the rice. The taste the next day was just as good if not better from the previous day. We will come back and recommend this place to our friends, just not the egg rolls and to be wary with the ribs, just because you may like it, or you may not like it.

I think GMG is one of the Perks for living here in the summer. Great food to bring home. If you don't want to cook, call, order, and pick up. That easy and that fresh.

Even though Tucson isn't exactly known for its fine Chinese cuisine, there are several very good restaurants in the locale... if you know where to look. Well, look no further as GMG Chinese Bistro is hands-down the best that either Tucson or Oro Valley has to offer and can readily hold its own against most of the Los Angeles Chinatown restaurants. The Bistro isn't very large, but the modern interior is laid out well and quite comfortable for small parties. It is extraordinarily clean and surprisingly quiet as well. Obviously, some serious thought was given to the acoustic design of the dining area, contributing heavily to the calm, laid-back atmosphere. The kitchen is open to viewing from the dining area, but didn't detract from the peaceful quiet, nor did the kitchen aromas typical of most Chinese restaurant kitchens permeate the dining area - this is a good thing as the odor isn't typically pleasant. The food was uniformly delicious and very reasonably priced. Portions were generous, so don't get carried away ordering too many tempting choices or you'll be hauling home bags full of cardboard takeout boxes. I speak from experience there. The servers were friendly, attentive, and quite accommodating. They were also very efficient, especially when it came time to box up the inevitable leftovers. Although important, the ambiance of the restaurant and the quality of the servers are totally secondary to the quality if the food itself. We ordered an "off-the-menu" spicy fried squid dish and they readily accepted the request - it was extremely tasty without being too hot. The honey walnut shrimp was a real treat and not overly drenched in honey. The triple mushroom beef dish is served in a rich sauce that allowed the flavor of the tender beef strips to meld with the vegetables. The sizzling rice soup was quite good, but not especially exciting compared to the other dishes. All of our meal's ingredients appeared to be quite fresh. We will definitely return here for dinners to come.

Great food! We had four of us there and we did the family style so we could try a few different dishes. We loved all of it, but orange chicken and Mongolian combo were the favorites. The service was also outstanding. They filled our drinks so fast we could never get to the bottom of them! We'll be back for sure.

  • T. H.

First time at GMG when we picked up takeout. Ordered the Mongolian Tofu and Kung Pao Tofu. While both were excellent, the Mongolian had outstanding flavor. The brown rice option is a major plus. More visits to come!

  • Andrew T.

I always order the same dish at every Chinese restaurant, at least the first time I eat there, so I can more easily compare the quality of the food. Normally that dish is Mongolian Beef. My go-to Chinese restaurant is Dragon Village, the food there is good, but sometimes the quality/tenderness of the meat can vary. I've only eaten at GMG once but the meat was excellent and the preparation of the food was outstanding. My only complaint would be that I received significantly less meat at GMG than I would have at Dragon Village, but quality beats quantity. The service was good and I had plenty of water refills without asking.

Service here is super friendly & the vegis taste fresh & not frozen. I love the wanton noodle soup & pan fried noodles. The restaurant stays pretty clean & great for a group setting. If you ever get the chance to stop by for lunch they have a great lunch special. You can get out with a $10 bill or less with drink. I'd totally recommend this place to my friends & family.

The food was not very good. Our food didn't taste fresh and just wasn't good. Would rather of gone to PF Changs.

This is a great restaurant! Some of the best Chinese food I've had. Certainly would pick this place over PF Changs even though further from me. Can't wait to return! Excellent food, nice size portions, fair price and excellent friendly service. What more could you want from a Chinese food restaurant.

Before this occasion, I would have given this place a 4 star but they lost 2 stars because of the service. On a hot June afternoon, my two children (5 & 7 years old) stopped in for a quick lunch before going to the movies. It was HOT outside!!!! Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed it was hot inside and the hostess looked tired and hot! The A/C was on but far from comfortable. The hostess sat us and said she would be back with some plastic utensils. She quickly replaced the childrens dinnerware with plastic forks and plates! It's hard enough for a 5 year old to eat with metal silver wear but plastic is even more difficult. When the rice came out, no spoons were offered. I felt offended that my children had to struggle and eat their rice on plastic plates with plastic forks. I spent half of the lunch wondering why they sat us at a table near the hot window. Finally, the lady folding napkins came by and closed the window shade. Our waiter, who stood around laughing with other employees, never once checked on us after the food arrived. The older couple sitting near us had to ask the waiter where the rest of their dinner was. She received her meal and finished it but apparently they forgot about his meal. The place was not busy. I will only return for take out.

  • Anna H.

This may be the best Chinese food on the NW side of Tucson! Even though the space is small, the wait never seems too long. Their menu is easy to read and twice I have had the Honey Walnut Shrimp...which is to die for! They have a small kids menu which is great for our daughter. The orang chicken is NOT spicy...just sweet and orangey, which my daughter loves. A must for our family and well be going back for sure!

  • Mariah A.

Clean and modern, tasty food! The service was very good. We had six people and a reservation and they seated us immediately even though the place was packed. When you sit they bring out mustard and sweet and sour sauce and the chips to dip and some pickled radish/cucumber/carrot relish. I had the family dinner the wonton soup which was cabbage 3 wontons and a piece of pork in a tasty broth, an egg roll, a crab puff which was mostly cream cheese, pork fried rice, and shrimp with snow peas. That is a whole lot of food for $9.95! The veggies were not overdone and the flavors nice. I also tried the Dragon and Phoenix (not an option with family dinner) which had a little spice and their "special sauce" which was really good. The portions were really big...we had probably half of our food left and the waitress boxed it up nicely for us. It was a great experience overall and definitely a place we would go back to!

My favorite Chinese place, best I found in Tucson. Great food, fast. Friendly staff, good service, attractive dining room. This place has it all. Can't wait to go again.

I love this place holy cow. I just came back last night for dinner. Me and my bf decide to get the "Mandarin Family Dinner" for around 11 dollars per person. You essentially each get an eggroll, panko fried shrimp, and a soup as well as one order of pork fried rice w/ two entree choices... We went with the orange chicken and the cashew shrimp.. Let me say that the orange chicken is the best freaking orange chicken I ever had.... AND I grew up in San Fran for God's sakes! Holy crap that thing was fried perfectly.. and had real orange slices in the sauce.. The sauce also orange juice in it.. and you could really taste the freshness as you bit into the chicken! Furthermore the meat was really tender.. and white (which is important to me.. because once I ordered orange chicken somewhere and I bit into it and the meat was like a dark pink.. wtf) The cashew shrimp was delicious.. tons of huge shrimps (not the little cheapy shrimps you sometimes see).. and tons of cashews+finely diced veggies all sauteed in a delicious sauce that went perfectly over my fried rice !!! Yay! Unsure if I already mentioned it, but they have a page of lunch specials for $6.00 everyday till 3pm.... A free pot of oolong and jasmine tea is provided just as long as you ask!!! I will be back many times over to try everything that GMG has to offer!

This was the first Chinese restaurant we visited after relocating to Tucson and while I'm not saying we'll never venture anywhere else, we've definitely found a likely favorite spot to go whenever we're jonesin' for Chinese cuisine. We came in during lunch hour and the staff was friendly and attentive seating us immediately. The egg flower soup that comes with entrees is the best I've had and I'd go back just for that. Our faves are the sesame chicken and honey walnut shrimp. You will not be disappointed. Pair it with hot tea and you're set. Scrumdidaliumptious. That's right, I said it.

  • Stephanie A.

Probably one of the best Chinese places in Tucson, but that's really not saying much. It is very well priced (order the Lunch Specials or Family Dinners), but the food is all so "meh". I would maybe go here again if I was in the area, but I definitely won't be driving across town from my house for any of their dishes.

  • Katie S.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed GMG.. Im at a loss.. I'm so shocked because it is our absolute favorite Chinese restaurant!! We have never had a bad dish. NEVER. We have tried many dishes but always come back to the same two. Vegetable lo mein and sesame chicken. Now I know those are some basic dishes but YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. The lo mein is the most flavorful lo mein I've ever had. Perfect amount of veggies to noodles. You seriously have to get it. The sesame chicken is also amazing. Egg rolls, fried rice, absolutely anything you get will be perfect. Don't make the mistake of passing up this place!

The best!!!!!!!!! Sesame chicken is amazing and so is the fried rice! Definitely my favorite on the NW side of town!

Love this place! Authentic Chinese who speak the language, filling portions, and a laid back atmosphere. I was a little skeptical at first due to the Americanized menu but I guess this is tucson after all. The individual dinners are plenty of food- they can come with two wontons, soup, and the entree. The Mongolian beef, orange chicken, and all of the soups are delicious. The staff was super accommodating as well when I made a special request for Peking duck (which is a must try for all of you who haven't heard of it!) Overall, I could not believe the authenticity, the value, and the portion size for your money! There's pretty much always leftovers for you to enjoy the next day. OOOOH, and there's a good selection of drinks at the bar. I will be back any chance I get!

Went for guys lunch yesterday. All three of us enjoyed our meals. Lunch specials are fabulous bargains. Food is delicious and very fresh. Service is excellent. Room is attractive and easy to converse. Chairs are all wood -- supportive and comfortable. Will definitely return for both lunch and dinner. Will also try carry out, living just 10 minutes away.

We came for dinner with my spouse and young children. The food was really good and the portions huge. Very tasty. Our server was very friendly. The food came out fast. The only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because the staff at the kitchen had two arguments during the 40 minutes that we spent at the restaurant and it was very unpleasant to hear that.

  • Kris D.

We've been here twice, and both times have been great! The crab puffs are the BEST in town! Service is fast and friendly. I suggest going a little earlier because they do go on a wait, even on a Monday night.

We have eaten here many times and every single time the food is great! We like our food spicy and normally Chinese restaurants do not make spicy food as they say their General Tso chicken is spicy, but it is not. So when we requested our dishes to be spicy, we were pleasantly surprised to taste a lot of spice! My husband loves crispy duck and says their crispy duck is the BEST duck he has ever eaten! My only wish is I want them to start delivery!

This is by far the best Chinese food in Tucson. They're lunch specials are bigger and better then any other place. It's about $5-6 for a huge lunch combo that never fails to fill me up. It's extremely clean along with friendly and quick service that really pulls it all together. The Wonton Soup is delicious and so are the Crab Puffs and Orange Chicken. It doesn't get much better than that!

The "go-to" place in Oro Valley for Chinese food. They have good food, great prices, nice (if moderate) décor, and a very pleasant staff. As a vegetarian, I have tried several dishes from their vegetarian menu, and each has been good. I've had the green beans with garlic sauce, the vegetable lo mein, the moo shu vegetables, and the Mongolian tofu. The vegetable lo mein was a real treat as, unlike most Chinese restaurants who use ordinary spaghetti noodles, GMG uses an especially thick noodle, which is really adds something to the dish. The décor of the restaurant is quite a bit above most Chinese restaurants (some of which make you wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen). The changing color lights are a bit outdated, but all in all, it is a very pleasant experience. The wait help is generally quiet, yet friendly and very attentive. All that said, don't go to GMG expecting health food. The chefs use plenty of oil in the preparation of the dishes. (I also wish the chefs wouldn't fry the tofu.) But if you don't mind splurging with your diet from time to time, I don't think you're going to find much tastier Chinese cuisine anywhere in the area.

The food was excellent but the service was slow. If you plan to dine at peak times on busy nights I strongly suggest making reservations here. Its a popular place and the seating area is small. There were three tables that sat 8 but I don't know if that is normal. We ordered the combination appetizer and we finished it all, very good. I had the egg flower soup as well and it was better than I'm used to, very thick. For entrees I had the pepper steak with steamed rice, she had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. Both were very good but the fried rice did not get served. But that's ok, we didn't correct their oversight. Our granddaughter had the BBQ pork fried rice which we all shared. Our grandson had the orange chicken off the kid's menu. It was indicated as spicy but he didn't think it was spicy at all which was fine by him. The drinks, soup and appetizers come out right away. But then I felt abandoned as it took about 25 mins for the rest of the food to come out and no one checked on us. After we finished eating it took another 10 full mins before getting the table cleared and I feel that would have been longer had not 3 of 4 people went for the restroom to signal we had finished. In other words, they checked on us once only, the customary one after the main course is served to check if we were satisfied with the food. If the service had been better then I could have gone with four stars. So our repeat business will be the occasional carry out.

Have been here twice and both times I was more than pleased with the food and blown away with the service. Yesterday, we had the asparagus and chicken seasonal dish, kung pao combo and brown rice. The asparagus chicken was so good and the serving plate was HUGE! I have had asparagus dishes before but none compare to the amount of asparagus that GMG uses. They aren't stingy at all. My hubby always orders kung pao chicken at Chinese restaurants so he has seasoned taste buds in that area and he raved on GMG'S kung pao. Ok - so the food is perfect, but the service is MORE THAN PERFECT. They greet you when you walk in and make you feel very welcomed with hospitality. They seat you and wait on you with greatattention. When you are done, they box your left overs, unlike other places that hand you a box. Trust me you will have left overs! Lastly, I am a clean freak and this place is spotless. I always cringe when Chinese restaurants have their chile on the table inside of a small jar with the small spoon. Doesn't it always look old and contaminated? YES! Not at GMG. They give you chile in a personal sized container that you can place a lid on and take it with you to use on your left overs. Enough said - go eat there! Oh just remembered that they gave me a free pack of Chinese cookies the first time I was there. Chinese New Year!

Convenient busy location. People are coming and going with lots of carry out. Great Chinese food for Tucson when comparing to the likes of Golden Dragon and such. While I prefer Chengs, you can't go wrong here. The teriyaki chicken wasn't very sweet, though still yummy, and the sesame beef was very tasty and travelled well. The egg flower soup was like egg drop but with corn. I'll keep coming back.

one word "yum" The best Chinese food in Tucson, but don't tell anyone because right now we always get a table with very little wait. Large portions and every dish I've had has been delicious. The service has always been friendly and helpful.

If one calls the state of Chinese restaurants in Tucson as "rough." This place is definitely a diamond in said rough. I try my best to eat here once a week, mainly because I do not want this deliciousness to ever leave. The fact they opened up in Oro Valley, may hurt them attracting clients from down south, so I'll go a couple extra times to make up for this. First of all, the price for the food you get is in the customers favor. The cooks are so authentic, and my food is prepared to perfection each time. I purposely try different things to test them, but they more than surpass my expectations on whatever trial I throw their way. My stomach is so happy whenever I visit GMG. Just thinking about this place puts smiles on your face. In fact I'm cutting off this review to go and enjoy GMG goodness.

Wonderful Chinese food! We had the lunch specials of Cashew Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken that came with soup and egg roll. The egg flower and hot and sour soups were delicious as were the entrees. Yummy! We'll be back!

Gary and I (2/3 of our Dining Trio) have been watching GMG Chinese Bistro prep their space. We finally saw the Grand Opening banner, and happily dined there. The waitress said they've been open for about two weeks now. The restaurant is attractive, with marbletop tables, wooden brown chairs, and sage greens and brown tones. The ceiling has a few contemporary touches, with inset domes (no idea how to explain this) that change colors. GMG has a comfy bar area to one side. Looks like they are still finishing the bar wall area. Service was friendly and fast. The menu is an attractive, heavy affair on heavy stock. We liked the variety of choices, but stuck with some traditional dishes to get a feel for their culinary interpretation. We ordered two family dinners, that come with egg roll, soup and crab puff appetizers plus fried rice and the entree. The appetizers took a little long to arrive, but were good. My hot and sour soup could be a little more sour. Gary's wonton soup was very tasty. The entrees arrived on dishes along with a large, attractive "ball" of rice. The sesame chicken was excellent, with just the right texture and flavor. The cashew chicken was a little less exciting; a bit tasteless and lacking any special vegetables (looked like peas and carrots that come pre-prepared). It could've used more garlic and sauce. The chicken was tender. The fried rice was nicely prepared but simple--not the type of fried rice with lots of veggies and/or pork in it. We took a few photos and will get them out of our cell phone shortly. I would go back, and we enjoyed the ambiance and overall, the food. It is a new place and all new restaurants evolve over time to perfect the nuances that make them special. I can tell that the owner in the front was working very hard at the bar, helping to serve, as well as to greet and seat people. Parking is easy; the restaurant is on the east side, in a strip mall just south of Lambert Lane.

The "don't move the tables" signs were taken down a few months ago, and the hot and sour soup has gotten better since my original review. Missing star: restored! We eat at GMG about twice a month, and they've been nearly flawless.

I went to GMG Sunday night and although the food was superb and my service was great there was something that bothered me. I noticed about halfway through my meal one of the managers, I believe her name is Jenny, was being very rude to some of her employees. She had been lecturing them on just about everything and when a customer walked in she wouldn't stop! it's just bad customer service and I felt bad for the employees.

Very good! Fresh! Best Chinese food I've found in Tucson. Bonus is it's huge portions at a reasonable price. Looking forward to my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Friendly and happy staff. Tonight they gave customers a package of almond cookies as a Christmas present. So sweet. I'm hooked.

Very very very authentic and delicious Chinese food! Reminding me of my first time being China 10 years ago. It's one of the best and must try Chinese restaurant in the town!

I've gotten take out here a few times because there aren't many choices in Oro Valley, but I wasn't impressed. The food is very, very bland and doesn't have much flavor. I suspect they're trying to cater to the old, white retired crowd and their Midwestern tastes, which based on the people I've seen in the restaurant is probably a good assumption. I think GMG stands for "Good for Midwestern Grub".

I have only eaten here once and it was fantastic. I recently moved here from a state that had plenty of Chinese restaurants to choose from and this gem in the desert is perhaps the best I've had in years. On second thought it is the best I've had in years. My visit was around 3pm and there was only one other table with people dining. While I was eating two different take out orders came and went and the big table was taken over by the staff having their lunch. I figure if the staff sits in the dining room and consumes the same food they cook for their customers it has to be good. Will definitely return. Sweet and sour pork with white rice.

This was our first time here- Friday night, and it was packed. There are maybe 8 round tables and a few along the side of the small dining room- but there were seats at the bar. Staff was super friendly and the owner kept walking around making sure everything was okay. After almost 3 mos in Tucson and bad Panda Express, this place was a gift!! The owner wasnt even aware of her positive reviews on Yelp. She'll be pleasantly surprised when she gets to read them. Check this place out guys- you'll love it!!

Our orders of Mongolian chicken, Mong. beef were lacking any "Szechuan" heat whatsoever. A bit too bland for our liking, but not bad. House fried brown rice was so good!

I always get the sesame chicken with a small wonton soup. Large one didn't taste the same, I don't care for the brown fried rice on the lunch special, so I sub it for white rice. This is the best Chinese food in Tucson that I have tried! Thanks GMG for raising the bar.

Overall my experience he was very positive. The restaurant was quiet when I was there and quiet when I left. I received my order in a quick and timely manner. While I didn't order a whole lot of food I was satisfied with what I got. The hot n sour soup was warm, flavorful and delicious. The fried meat dumplings on the other hand were kind of tough. The dough was thick and I feel like there could have been more meat in it. However the dumpling was flavorful and the meat inside was seasoned very well. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants Chinese food but is tired of Pei Wei or the Americanized, Chinese food that is served at Panda Express.

Before this place opened I was going to get takeout from Dragonvillage. But these two are different GMC doesn't use as much breading so you get more meat not so much bread. All the food is hot, fresh, and delicious. My favorite thing to get here is the sesame chicken, I defiantly want to try more of their food. Maybe sweet and sour shrimp. The workers are very friendly, and this place always has a crowd. Best Chinese place in oro valley by far. I will keep going back because it's close, fair priced, and delicious

I have eaten here twice now, and will certainly go back. The staff is very friendly, and the dishes I have tried were very, very good. I shall return.

Best Chinese so far in Tucson. Nice, comfortable restaurant with good service. Some 4 star items like the Hot and Sour soup. Healthily food without all the oil in most Tucson Chinese restaurants. I'll be back to explore more items. We had a pleasant inexpensive lunch with lots of food.

Delicious food & great service...for VERY reasonable prices. A party of 4 and we ate well for less than $45...with plenty of left-overs! So if you're anywhere near don't miss out!! Crab puffs & wonton soup are a must in my book!1

We went yesterday. Their were five of us, on child. We got their around noon. It was packed. That is usual a great sign. We all order flower soup. We all agreed it was wonderful! The service is excellent. I did feel rushed for they drop the soup off and the entrée comes right after wards. I can not blame them for they want to get us in and out for lunch so they can turn over tables. With that said, we all felt rushed. My son ordered off the kids menu. He had pan noodles. He liked it. They did not have milk. I did not understand how you have a kid's menu but no milk. I ordered the orange chicken, it was presented well. It is not the best orange chicken that I have ever had but it was good. I am also from the Bay Area/S.F. area and have a lot of great Chinese food, this was good. We order beef/bro. cashew chicken. sweet and sour chicken all of the lunch special. They all said it was good but not very flavorful. The price is right. The whole bill came to 32.00 without the tip. I think this place is clean, great service but you are rushed if you go during lunch time. The food is well presented and good. not great. Oh yea, the funny part is a read a review that this place is "fancy"...lol...nope just a regular joint with paper napkins.

I must respond to the review this evening by Justin S. After witnessing him in the restaurant and his complete inability to be appeased in ANY WAY. I KNEW he would leave a bad review that was unwarranted. Service and owners here, including David, are wonderful. A few of us witnessed the interaction and shook our heads at this customer. I felt they did a great job of fixing a misunderstanding... And I'm not surprised he created a misunderstanding. Bravo for handling this gentleman w grace amidst all your customers coming in for a busy seating. He would NOT let it go despite efforts to quickly adjust his order. GMG is a wonderful addition to The OV. They prove to the other area restaurants that have come and gone that you need the tried and true combination of good food quality, good pricing, wonderful welcoming service, and a pleasant atmosphere to have a real winner, even in Oro Valley. Definitely give it a try if you haven't already!

We have been going to the same Chinese restaurant since my mom was 16. Needless to say, we are picky about our Chinese food. We tried this restaurant last night after a friend of mine recommended it because she works there. Oh my holy food god. This is our new favorite place!! The service is awesome, they are very helpful and will answer any questions thoroughly. The prices are fairly low especially when you see the size of the portions!! For 2 entrée combos, 1 reg entree, a full order of fried rice, an appetizer, and 3 drinks it was only $42! And we took quite a bit home. We will DEFINITELY be back again soon!

Incredible service from the staff. Our server Dennis was the best and most professional. We received our orders in a timely manner and the food was exceptionally amazing. I will definitely going back there again and again. Please try the Honey Walnut Shrimp.

This new Oro Valley Chinese restaurant is the best we've been to in The Tucson area. The 3 families have come together (GMG intials ) to create delicious food. We had the Sesame Chicken, Honey Walnut Prawns, House Fried Rice, and Mongolian Chicken. They were all great! We will return.

Its a solid place for American Chinese food. It is no Old Peking, but very little is. Doing some pre-road trip laundry at the folks' and they suggest getting some chinese take out mom ate here not too long ago and she remembered the less than good chengs experience. So we tried to find a menu for the place and yelp, a place that rhymes with shmurban swoon, and even the companies own site didn't have it. I will cut them some slack as they are brand spanking new. Being the bold and intrepid individuals that we are me and the special lady friend got the orders from the folks and went down there to place a to go order in person. Looked over the menu nothing shocking or "must try" so I went with the moo shu pork, the SLF (special lady friend) tried the cantonese chow fun, mom got the happy family (cliche name for a dish ordered by a mom) and dad got his usual cashew chicken. The total order was rounded out with an order of crab puffs, and an order of egg rolls. Heres where the 1st real beef with place creeps in. The person in front of us in line (an older lady) puts in about a $25+ order and they tell her 30 min or so till it is ready and then takes her phone number and sends her on her way. Now I know many of you are think ing well maybe she is a regular but the conversation she had made it clear that she was not. So I was expecting to give her the SLF's phone number and to go squander 30 min until our order was ready but, the helper monkey then says $52 ok well I mean sure I am going to pay anyways so no reallll big deal but she never took the phone number, she didnt clearly indicate how long till it should be done. I dont know if this was due to my bigger order or me being a goofy younger white guy. So several laps around Big 5 next door and about 25 min later we go strolling back over our food is waiting (for how long it was waiting, I dont know) the order taker goes down the order ticket like a check list making sure everything is there then sends us on our way, didnt ask if we wanted chop sitcks or soy sauce. Everything was well packed the crab puffs are packed in a double bag to keep them crispy, hot and to keep oil migration to a minimum. They use plastic containers for the cashew chicken, happy family, and moo shu. The chow fun was in a styrofoam clamshell and the rice was in paper "chinese food" containers. Item reviews: Egg Rolls: they SUCKED they reminded me of small frozen supermarket egg rolls dont order them Crab Puffs: GOOD, lots of stuffing, cheesy, not overly crabby, a bit leaky Cashew Chicken: good example of cashew chicken nothing exceptional Happy Family: really good, has every type of meat and vegetable in a brown sauce MooShu Pork: good flavor it was really juicy which made for SUPER MESSY hands, they even wrapped the moo shu skins in plastic so they didnt dry out The Chow Fun: The reason for only 2 stars if they got this right I would have put 3 down, On the menu it said seafood and then had a list of vegetables that were in the dish but what we got was just noodles and fish bits. The noodles good, the fish bits fresh. But with out the veggies it was just meh, flat, boring and over salted. I believe the veggies must be the rug that ties the room together. I feel this is a mistake that would only occur on a take out order. Bottom line: Cold service(shocking I know), cliche menu of american classics, speedy cooking, and decent flavors. I will chalk up some misgivings to growing pains. I would go back. But when you screw up the most expensive thing ordered well that leaves a figurative/ literal bad taste in my mouth. I hope my next trip there will be better. And seriously do you neeeeeeed to have color changing LED lighting for the ceiling? Didnt sit in the chairs but they didnt look comfortable.

I went to their grand opening! It is a very nice place, its new, the service was fast and the waitresses fantastic. The food was excellent quality, their walnut and shrimp was extremely delicious. The place is very clean, very new and the ambiance was great. If I didn't live in Phoenix, I would love to go back there a lot more often! Will definitely come back later when I am in the neighborhood (:

This place is wonderful!!!! The food is exceptional with lots of flavor and generous portions. Best egg drop soup ever!!! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Prices are very reasonable. We usually do take out and the food is always ready on time and is hot and ready to go. The restaurant is clean and cozy. Two thumbs up and some snaps.

Nice addition to the restaurant scene in the NW and a great addition to the Lambert & La Canada group of eateries, Unassuming strip mall storefront opens into a modern, casual interior decor. Nice job guys. The food is great. Nice selection of beers, nothing on tap, but good variety of Japanese bottled beer. Nice cocktail & wine menu. Friendly wait staff. Well done guys!

Our first time @ GMG, nicely done neighborhood Chinese Restaurant. Friday @ 4:30 second table. Well staffed with experienced help. Extensive menu (no detailed descriptions on menu items), i.e. what type of vegetables come with the dish....ordered the combo for two or more, cashew chicken"spicy", and shrimp snow peas. After eating the soup, spring rolls and won tons, we couldn't come close to finishing the entrees. Everything was very tasty and the Crossings Sauvignon Blanc was very nice @ $22. We appreciated the attentive service from everyone, obviously trying to give a good impression and it works. Would have given 5 stars, only thing that I could say was not quite right was the slight smokey smell from the kitchen, HVAC needs to be adjusted.

We went here after all of the hype of a new place to eat in Oro Valley, which frankly is rare. It did not disappoint! The place was clean, staff was friendly, and overall a good atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give it five stars, was because of the paper signs on all of the walls telling you to not move the tables. Overall the food was excellent, plus the complimentary green tea was a nice touch!

Forgot to eat lunch ....Hubbie and I decided to head to GMC at 3:30 based on previously researching Asian food in the area. We missed the lunch specials but no biggy... I had the Moo Shu Shrimp. In a nut shell, waaaay to much oil and the egg tasted like it had been made en mass earlier in the day and almost re fried with the order. Really good Moo will have a great balance of crisp veg, fresh protein and fresh egg. Hubbie had Hunan Beef. The beef was tender but mistakenly served over lo mein noodles...I have to say, mistake acknowledged, but, as the waiter was placing the plate in front of the customer. This dish was also laden in oil. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive and the ambiance also pleasant and tidy. Running the vacuum while we were eating wasnt so pleasant but in the defense of a restaurant open 12-9 on Sun they do have to vacuum sometime right ;) Next up....leftovers.....one word, well two...glistening grease. So..to sum it up...lighten up! The flavors overall were fine! Keep it fresh! We will go back....maybe we hit an odd time of day....

I've eaten in Chinese restaurants in China Towns in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York city and this place compares well. It is one of my favorites in all of Tucson and by far the best in Oro Valley. My wife and I have eaten there a dozen times and they are consistent across the board. Price and service are great, too. I cannot believe they are less than two miles from my house. I would drive across town to eat there.

This place is really good. There isn't too much variety up here in Oro Valley so this was a pleasant addition to the choices. The people are courteous and attentive. Great prices. Good food. Will return for sure.

This place has really good food and shouldn't be missed. The first time we went was as a small group. We had the War Wonton soup, Cashew Shrimp, Moo Goo Gai Pan and General Tso's Chicken. Everything was delicious. I told them I wanted my General Tso's as spicy as they could make it, and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't crazy about the breading on it as it's the same they use for sweet and sour dishes, and I prefer the crispier breading, but that's o.k.! The next time we went we had egg rolls, crab puffs, Wonton soup, Moo Shu Pork and Sesame Chicken. We asked for both dishes to be extremely spicy and once again they hit the nail on the head. Yippeee for consistency. The crab puffs and egg rolls were average, but everything else was delicious. Service was great the first time, looks like everyone has a specific job they do and they are quick to refill drinks, clear plates, etc. The second time was pretty good too...they were a little understaffed, but still had good service despite the fact. Think we have found our new hidden gem to enjoy Chinese food!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
